If you’ve come to learn a little bit more about my book, or me, or my daughter and our journey, jump right in, you’ve come to the right place.

Maybe though, you ended up here in the roundabout usual way we get lost on the internet these days. Maybe you began (innocently enough) typing words into your computer’s search bar, words so familiar they practically typed themselves. Maybe you typed words like: “special needs children,” “kids with disabilities,” “parenting kids with disabilities,” or “where is my adult kid with a disability going to live?” Maybe you typed in something like, “joy of disability,” or maybe “loss”—“ loss of a child,” “loss of an adult child,” or “grief.” Maybe your fingers led the way when you type in the words “how do I move forward with a broken heart.”

I’ve typed all of those words and so many like them. I’ve been there; I am there. —- And so, my book…

A book that came into being out of a longing to read a parent’s honest account of what it feels like to raise a kid with a disability, and what it feels like to lose her. The book is not a how-to, and its not a resource guide- it’s just an “Oh my gosh, this is hard, and sweet, and terrifying, and powerful, an uncomfortable, and beautiful, and the most rewarding thing I’ve ever done, but the rewards are different and unexpected, and sometimes they hurt.
